The Portrayal of Women in George Mujajati’s novel, The Sun will rise again (1999).
The portrayal of women in literature is a mirror of their experiences in a patriarchal society. This study explores the representation of female characteristics in George Mujajati’s novel The Sun Will Rise Again (1999). It also identifies the social and cultural factors that have a negative impact on women characters. The study employs African feminism as a tool for analyzing the novel. The study concludes that women’s lives are presented in negative light, they are oppressed through gender discrimination. Some traditions only serve the interests of men and oppress women.
